Introduction:
The intervertebral fusion cage is a large, hollow cylinder made of high-grade titanium. It is designed as a "cage" so that bone graft can be placed inside the hollow cylinder to allow a spinal fusion to occur between two vertebrae. The specialized openings throughout the cage allow bone to form around and through the structure, connecting the two vertebrae with solid bone.
Many modern intervertebral fusion cages are designed for both traditional open incisions and laparoscopic procedures. While the laparoscopic approach can be much less damaging to normal tissue and speed up recovery, the cage effectively spreads two vertebrae apart to increase the room for nerve roots, decreasing irritation and mechanical pain.
The 5.5/6.0 screw-rod system for spinal internal fixation features double/single threads. This mature implant system offers options for both sterile and non-sterile packaging.
